What we do and how we work

Together we create change

Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland is a grassroots environmental campaigning community. From our campaigners and lawyers to local action groups and supporters, we push for change on causes that matter to you:

  • Empowering local people to make their communities better for everyone .
  • Pushing for government action on the energy crisis using solutions we already have.
  • Fighting for environmental and social justice globally.

Our groups

Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland has a network of hundreds of local action groups.

These groups are run by thousands of people just like you from all types of backgrounds, including nurses, students and grandparents. They bring people together to make their communities more climate friendly and fight against climate-wrecking projects.

Find out about local action groups in your area. And if there isn't one, consider starting one yourself.

How we work

Fires, floods, drought. Climate breakdown is overwhelming, and it can often feel out of our control.

But the solutions are out there, and there are things we can do to bring about systemic change before it's too late.

Watch the video and see how we can achieve a fairer, more climate friendly world.

Where do we stand on...

  • population growth
  • nuclear power
  • the right to protest?

Our policy experts produce in-depth analysis of topics as diverse as pesticides, planning laws and rewilding to help guide conversations related to climate breakdown and environmental justice.
